JOE ACRES

DRAMA & SINGING TEACHER

As a former Italia Conti Chislehurst student, Joe has been at it a while.

He began his career as Kipper in Oliver at the London Palladium and as Gavroche in Les Miserables at The Palace Theatre.

Through his teens and early adulthood, he worked in small TV and film roles, most notably with Ray Winstone in the film ‘Cold Kiss’, before being signed to a music label and touring the UK and Italy as a musician for a number of years.

While studying for his literature degree, Joe worked as a professional comedian; touring the UK for three years as the frontman and writer for the musical comedy act, Rogue 5. The group enjoyed modest success as a regular headline act in comedy clubs and theatres, and made various TV appearances on late night comedy shows.

Shortly after graduating, he went back to theatre, writing his first play, ‘Once Upon A Time On Something Street’, which he directed and produced for a summer season on Brighton seafront.

Since then, he has been working as a freelance musician, writer and recording artist, having composed and performed the soundtrack to anti-youth violence film, ‘Knox: The Rob Knox Story’.

Joe has always been proud to be a part of the Contis family and is delighted to be back as a teacher, helping the next generation of #ContiKids.
