Jazz dance is a mixture of technical movement and modern music.
With its roots in early jazz music, "Jazz Dance" has evolved through time and the term jazz can be difficult to tie to one specific time period.
Our jazz classes start with a full dance warm up followed by stretching and technical exercises from the corner and in the centre.
These often include travelling steps, kicks, leaps and turns.
These techniques and steps will then be combined to create technical based routines which may also feature floor work and partnering.
The routines can be choreographed to modern day pop music, theatrical dance pieces or iconic jazz.
Our choreographers often draw inspiration for their routines from iconic dancers such as Bob Fosse.
